  • Sandboxes and cats

We did think about Barney when we designed the sandbox.  Notice the tarp next to the kids?

So when the kids leave, the tarb gets put back on, weighted down with lumber ends.  So far, so good.  Thanks for all the advice though!

  • Good idea.    I still have nightmares from my wee days of my own sandbox and the cat poo.   Do you tie it down so those little rascals can't sneak under it?

  • LOL... we learned the hard way.... got all new sand.... glad you got it covered though... pun intended..

  • Good idea to cover it.  Kitties would be in their glory there..

  • Hope Kaden learns not to haul the sand all over your yard.  That can be a problem.  Thanks for sharing all the pictures.

  • Neat sandbox.  All the neighbors' kids sure enjoy it too!  Our kids didn't need one in the yard.  During the summer, they would go work with Ken, and when he didn't need them, they would play in the huge sand piles at the construction site. Now, all you need is a full-sized pool, and all those kids' parents would be there, too!!  lol

I heard from Sue about your tentative plans.  Yay!!  You guys decide---we'll be here!!

  • @mimiwi - My hubby grew up with a contractor dad, so he too remembers playing in construction sites.  My Ken grew up a block from a small lake, so he had all that sand to play in, plus the fairly big sandbox that was already in our yard.  So we just had to have one for Kaden!  Who goes there as soon as he arrives now.  So cute!

  • LOL--well we all had good intentions for you.   I tell you what--y'alls yard is HUGE and the grass so thick. Makes me want to come over & walk barefoot! *hugs*

  • Oh, yes good thing you covered it. The kitties would have been standing in line to have a go at the new lou. Our Grand daughter also turned 2 this May. It's such a wonderful age even if there is the terrible two's to cope with. He looks like a real dear. Hugs and Kisses for him on his b'day.

  • tell barney that he is not allowed to give kaden a kiss after he goes hunting. that is so nasty. bad barney bad barney

  • RYC-yes, the video was taken by a street camera. If you haven't seen it on tv yet, there is a link to the article over the video. *hugs*

  • I'm doing this both ways to see which is best. I messaged you my question AND I'm writing it here. So typically when I respond to your comment through the link on my e-mail notification, it sounds like xanga notifies you. Do they then provide you a link to find out my response? Where does that link take you?

    Moosie

  • @moosetales - I'll respond this way and you can tell me if they notify you.  I raise my hands in frustration with the powers that be in xangaland!

  • @valreads - Okay, that worked well. They sent me your response in an e-mail then I clicked on the link and it brought me to your weblog and the front of this message is @valreads. It looks like most of the time if you respond through the e-mail the person you want to get it, gets it...I think...lol! Thanks for your help. I'm not too fond of change either.

  • Love the sandbox! Looks like so much fun for the kiddo...soon to be kiddos!!! Hope everything is going well for Michelle. Enjoy the summertime!!!

  • I feel badly that you never had a sandbox when you were a kid!  What kind of parents would be so cruel?  I guess we moved too often.

  • Male Jr was content for hours in his sandbox.  He preferred my cooking spoons to shovels though and it was hard to keep them on hand. He quickly learned to push a stool over to the counter and grab one without me knowing.
