  • Yesterday was Sam's birthday.  We always remember the date.  So we had a party.

Someone slept through most of it.

I made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.  I sent the leftovers home with Sam and Michelle.  Wasn't I good?

Aunt Em and Uncle Ralph came.

So did Sam's mom and sister Susan.  Skyler woke up before Kaden did.

I put the women to work.  I have to bring a wreath to a garden meeting on Wednesday and I'm not very good with bows.

So Aunt Em made the bow for me.  When we went on the quilt garden tour, the other two ladies spotted a wreath made out of a length of garden hose and decided that we could do that as well as the one for sale.  So one of them bought a garden hose, had her husband cut it into 5ths, and put ends on each and they each took 2 to make and gave me one.  This is what I came up with.

    Everyone loves holding a baby!

Kaden finally woke up.  Took him awhile.  Before they left he was running around like a holy terror.  I hope he went to sleep last night!

We are going to a wedding this afternoon.  5:00 p.m. in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  I told Dave we have to leave here by 1:30 in order to fight Friday traffic and get to the hotel before the wedding.  We'll spend the night.

I love weddings.  We're getting invited to more and more now that our kids are grown up!

  • And a good time was had by all!!!

  • Those are great pictures...those little ones are adorable.

The chocolate cake looks yummy.. That is a beautiful wreath.  I guess it's time to think about putting up fall decorations.

  • nice pics-as always, like the one with kaden sleeping, take pics at the wedding, i want to see whatn it looked like, love ya

  • Awesome family pics as always.

RYC: I completely agree, you have to choose the issues important to you and go with your gut. No candidate of any party is ever going to meet all your needs or wants. I am sorry if my blog today got your Mom upset. I have tried to steer clear of politics but as the election looms it appears it'll be harder and harder to do that. After all, what else do I have to do with my time now?

  • A belated Happy Birthday to Sam. I too love weddings so I hope you enjoy this one

  • Happy belated 24th to Sam.  How his life has changed in the past 3 years!   Loved the family photos.  The little boys look very healthy and happy together.  What fun your whole family will be having this holiday season with both of them wide-eyed and happily opening gifts.

  • @myseniormoments - Oh boy, are your ever right about Sam's life changing so much in three years!!!!  WOW!  And, to think, 4 years ago he didn't know any of us.  Bigger wow!

  • Cute pictures! Happy birthday, Sam!

I'm a little bit curious about the wreath...it looks fun, but is the hose supposed to serve any purpose afterwards??? just curious =)

  • @junglewife - Nope - the hose is just a part of the decoration.  Different than a normal grapevine wreath.
