  • What a great week with my folks - they're in Cleveland now, enjoying their stay with friends from way back.

On Sunday I helped give a shower for a niece, Ruth.  We picked the date so that mom could attend.  Fun and games were enjoyed by all.

One of the games was the toliet paper game, where each team dresses up a bride in a toliet paper dress.  The real bride is in the center.  Can you guess who we picked as the winner?

My uncle and his brother, both retired pastors, helped me pick the winner.  I thought they were eminantly qualified, each having officiated at over 100 weddings.  But, as their wives pointed out, they weren't very observant when it came time to describe the bridal attire to their spouse!

Fran and I put the shower on.

Michelle got to lead one game.

I got to hold my baby.  Look at how long he's getting.  He's over 10 weeks old now.

I'll post more pictures another day.  Please remember me tomorrow (Friday) at 12:30 when I go in to the hospital to have my bladder lifted.  It should be a very good thing when it's over and done!

  • Hi sweetie!  Just commented on your mom's blog.  Yep,  I am behind on Xanga.  Great pictures.  We did a variation of the toilet paper game for our Judy's shower back in '83.  We used tissue paper.  And we divided the guest up into separate groups in separate rooms.  Each group was assigned part of the bride's wedding gown---bodice, skirt, sleeves, veil.  When they were all done, we taped all the sections onto the bride.  Ended up looking pretty good!  And lots of fun, too.  Can see the tp would be great, too---everybody becomes a "bride" again!

Have been thinking of you----while figuring out what to do with all this thawed food.  Will keep you in my prayers tomorrow.  I don't know if that is the same surgery my sis had.  She had to have a "shelf" built to hold her bladder up.  She had a problem with incontinence for a while afterward.  She also had hemorroids taken care of at the same time.  Needless to say, sitting was not comfortable for a while.  lol  Know you will feel better once it is all done!!

  • Cute bridal shower game--never seen that 1. I will be thinking of you tomorrow when you are in the hospital. How long do you stay in? RYC--better wait to see Mama Mia or you might bust a stitch laughing! lol When you DO go, take Michelle--or rent the video together, I would have loved to watch it w/my dd. *hugs*

  • We did that toilet paper game at a shower once.  It is a fun game.  It looks like the shower was a lot of fun and a big success.  Glad that your Mom could be there also.

Wishing the very best tomorrow for the surgery.  I'm sure you will be glad when it is all over...prayers and hugs to you.

  • We do not have bridal showers like that here. Good luck for tomorrow I hope the operation is successful

  • So, who did win?  Emily?  That is a fun game!

Praying for you tomorrow.  Hope all goes well.  Have someone let us know how it goes.  Will you be overnight?

  • Did my Nana win? If not my 2nd guess is whoever is to the right of Ruth (is that Sally E.?)

Sure wish I could have been there! I did make it to the shower at Jason's mom's house, but this would have been lots of fun too!!!

  • @junglewife - You and Sue got it correct!  And Sally E came in second.  A rose to you!

  • @coolmom56 - It's considered 23 hour surgery - I get to stay overnight, but I'm not really admitted.  It's an insurance thing.

  • @valreads - I'm praying for you.  Dad's surgery went very well.  No more tubes for him!

  • So glad it was a wonderful visit and you all had a great fun time:) The baby is adorable..* Everyone looks so happy ..so glad to be together...best wishes to all...hugs and love, Lee

  • i'm praying...

  • Mucho prayers, Sister-friend for a 'speedy' recovery.  What a fun shower, too.  Great that Great Gramma got to be there.  Take care.
