I'm doing much better today than yesterday. Right after I blogged I got a terrible case of nasea and ended up staying in bed for most of the day. I guess I did too much on Wed. I'm trying to slow down, and I have, but it's a really thin line between not being a slug and doing a little bit more every day.
Anyway, during the time that my folks were around Dave painted the kids bathroom. It had been wallpapered in a shell design, probably 23 years ago when the house was built. That wasn't holding up so well, so one of the first tasks we assigned to Ken after he graduated was stripping the wallpaper. That task proved to be more daunting than any of us thought. But he succeeded and the walls have been bare and all the fixtures have been removed since the end of May. We all had to wait on Dave, since Ken and I both subscribe to the slop-it-on technique of painting and Dave is Mr. Perfectionist.
The results:
There are no windows in the room, so we went with bright and cheerful. And Monkeys! FUN!
The new toothbrush holder.
And the lotion dispenser.
I love monkeys.
I did it for the grandkids. Um, yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Another kind of adorable primate.
Smile away.

Oh how precious!! What a little doll he is
precious*** and love your new bathroom..and the monkeys:) Great job** and glad you are feeling better too...take good care..hugs and love, Lee
Even his eyes light up when he giggles! That is just too cute.
Val! I am sorry I missed about your surgery! I feel awful! My only excuse is that I have been busy. Very busy. But it really is a lousy excuse.... I am glad it went well and that you are starting to feel better!
The new bathroom is cute! I bet Kaden loves it! LOL And oh my, how that little one is growing!
Awwww! Skyler is really interacting with people now. What a happy little guy, and so adorable. When he was born, I thought he looked just like Kaden, but now he looks like Skyler!
I will miss that (interacting)with Catalina, since she is only 1 1/2 months. Judy is coming tomorrow with her and Kenny and staying overnite. The whole family will be leaving LaCrosse on Monday. Jeff is staying in LAX this weekend to help the two oldest girls finish packing and to get the bus ready to go on the road again. So, this will be our last chance to see Catalina for quite a while. I just hope I remember to take pics and maybe a video. Judy's family hasn't seen the baby yet, so that is the reason for the visit. Not much time, but will take whatever we can get!!
Knowing you, you have been doing way more than you should be. If it was me after surgery, I would be milking it for all I could get. Any excuse to just sit and do nothing!! lol
The monkeys are so cute. I've never seen monkey stuff for a bath! Love it. Perfect for a fun kids' bathroom.
Forgot to mention that painting jobs are just the opposite in this house. Ken is allowed to paint outside and in the basement. Wouldn't let him near a wall on the main floor though, unless I wanted speckled furniture, carpet, trim, etc.. He did that once when we had our own home. I was working, and he "surprised" me one day and painted the ceiling in the family room. No big drops of paint anywhere, but lots of little speckles over everything. Didn't bother to cover anything. Fortunately it was latex paint, and washed off.
Wil doesn't let me paint. I use LOTS of paint. lol Now we just hire it done but he use to love to paint and was so particular. Now with the Benign Tremor so bad he shakes the paint on and forget cutting in the corners so we hire it done.
Know it is hard to just sit....for some people...lol but you better do it or pay the piper later.
Skyler is so cute!
Your bathroom is lovely and bright ,I love the monkeys. I always think there is great joy in seeing a baby laugh
Oh...I know I should be there now! To keep you relaxing. Will you ever listen to your mom's advice ? Reminds me of when you couldn't stop reading when you had the measles. Remember me coming in to your dark room and there you were reading when you were told not to?. Please do take care of yourself.
That video just puts me over the top too. He was beginning to gurgle and make happy noises when we were there.
Today I'll go around and decide what I actually MUST keep when we move. Just pray that these houses sell. It doesn't help when there are too many houses for sale on a street.
It looks so nice! How beautiful... I've got some wallpaper to take down in a room upstairs. I've not been that motivated to do it, either.
lol
Very nice and, gosh, Skyler is laughing already!
Damon picked penguins for his bathroom. The soap dish spins like it's floating on ice. Kids!
Awww, what a happy way to wake up in the morning! Thanks. I love the bathroom. I have to admit when you told you had bought "Monkeys" I was skeptical but that stuff is adorable! And I'm sure little Kenny loves it too! lol. It's nice it is FINALLY done!
I'll post tomorrow after Ben and Melanie leave. The shower yesteday was great. It was nice to meet all the aunts and some of the cousins. There were maybe 40 people there? so a nice sized group. They should be well on their way here by now, so I'd better get off and get some last minute cleaning done.
I have edited the comment in my entry to read "While living in Cleveland, we spent Easters and Thanksgivings in Indiana" Emily and family would come to Cleveland on Christmas.
Of course, we would come for Christmas!!
I meant to say, "edited the statement..."

I waited, after all several days for you to come and read it. I just put that on "private" today...October 17..so it was available for at least 8 days. I can message you. Look for the message. And then I can email you the entry.
