Our little Skyler turned 6 months old yesterday!  He continues to make conquests everywhere he goes.  Carol, his babysitter is as smitten as the rest of us.  Michelle is working at Bed, Bath and Beyond, it may be only temporary, or it may turn into part-time work.  She's helping set up the new store - they are moving a mile down the road.  It's a bigger location, but still.  The expense of moving must be enormous!

I guess I'd better take a picture of him the next time he's here - on Sunday.

We now have unlimited text messaging on our five cell phones.  Not that my husband will ever use his.  My mil might use the picture option once we upgrade her phone - then Michelle can send her pictures of the boys via cellphone!  We (read I) did that when my current bill went up $50 in a month due to "data usage".  I did a little research and discovered that Ken, who had a 250 text plan, had used 750 texts, the additional costing $.10 each.  So I unblocked Michelle's texting and just went for it on all phones.  That was actually cheaper than adding it piecemeal.  I only text Ken and now Michelle.  If any of you have cell phones and would like to text me, just let me know!  LOL

I'm trying to catch up on life.  I spent the entire day yesterday scanning recipes for our next creative cooking meeting on Tuesday only to discover that I had used too high of a resolution so none of them would send through the email.  So I had to rescan them all (there were 9) - it went so much faster at a lower setting!  Live and learn.

It's snowing prettily outside.  I can say that since I'm inside with no plans to leave.  I need to clean today.  And reorganize.  My reed difuser spontaniously tipped on my dresser (it's been in the same place for over 6 months with no problems, when all of a sudden it tips over - I wasn't anywhere near it and neither was anyone else) so Ken and I had to sop it all up before it ruined the finish on my dresser.  I had a difficult time falling asleep last night due to the very strong smell.

I must pull myself away from here and DO SOME WORK!

  • It's stopped snowing by us at the moment.  I'd love to be home watching it rather than through a window at work!

I got unlimited texting several months ago when one phone bill had an additional $100 or something on it.  The extra $20 a month for it more than makes up for that.

  • First off, what is a reed difuser? We are under dilove's plan with SPRINT and have unlimited texting. Best way in the world to keep up with teens and twenties. Wil and I have some sort of limit on calls to phones other than SPRINT customers which are all free, but dilove researched it first and told me even I had never gone over that limit and it's a cinch Dad hadn't. He carries his only because we all have fits if he doesn't. That doesn't mean he ever answers it in a timely manner. If he would carry it in his shirt pocket instead of his pant pocket he might hear/feel it ring/vibrate. He just hates anything new and better....sigh!

Nice day here but predictions of storms by evening and then the 20s for highs next week. I'm icky today but hopefully it will go away.

Sklyer is so cute. Bet he has changed since that picture even tho it is less than a month old. They change so fast.

  • @TheSunnyC - a reed difuser is one of those bottles of nice-smelling liquid that they sell now that you stick a bunch of bamboo sticks in so that the liquid wicks up the sticks and puts the nice smell into the room.  It's a nice way to freshen up a room, assuming the bottle doesn't tip and try to ruin the finish on your wood furniture!

  • strange about the diffuser....wonder if the reeds just dried up and then tipped?  Or the cat might have brushed by it?

Whatever the case, hope you saved the finish on your dresser.

Loved the pictures of the boys....they sure are cute.

  • I did not know what a reed difuser was so it was interesting to read Sunny C has said, I hope its not marked your furniture. The six months since Skyer was born has gone very quickly

  • Weird about the difuser.   Maybe the cat?  Oh well.  It snowed a little here also today but since I was at school did not get to enjoy it.  Six months!  yikes!  where does the time go.

  • yes you need to catch up on some skyler pics asap.

  • What was the scent you were smelling all night?

  • Text messaging?  What is the advantage.?  I've never texted messaged.

  • @josaju - All the younger generation prefer it.  It's actually less invasive, since you can get your message accross and if it's not convienient, the other person can answer later.  It's great for short bursts of information.  You aren't good at that so it's probably not your thing.  LOL!

  • @PennSmiths - I think it was some kind of linen-esk smell.  It really made me gag though!  It's fine in small dosages.

  • Can you e-mail or message me your cell phone number? just because

  • @josaju -

I don't know about in the States, but here in Indonesia, there are no monthly contracts for cell phones. It's all prepaid minutes, and you just buy more minutes when yours run out. Sending a text message is far more cheap then making a call. So, for all the people who are living on very little but still have a cell phone, it's quite inexpensive to have a cell phone for text messages alone. I have seen people driving down the street on their motorcycles, driving with one hand and texting with the other! In fact, I made a hotel reservation in Bali through a friend of ours entirely with text messages yesterday!

  • @valreads -

The first part of my reply came out weird. I know there are monthly contracts in the STates. What I meant to say, was I don't know the advantage of texting in the States, but I definitely know what it is here!

  • I am jealous of your snow, yet glad you are enjoying it's special beauty!

Great news about Michelle working at Bed Bath & Beyond. Hope it turns into FT work for her!

Congrats on your cell phone knowledge! I don't even know HOW to text--LOL I have heard similar stories about the costs of texting. ( I can't send pics on the ohone either-lol)

Had one of those diffusers tip over (compliments of a friend!) also and it too ruined the finish on my table. There should be warnings on that! Of course, one doesn't EXPECT that they will turn over! Hmmmmm--wonder what made yours tip over????

    *hugs*

  • I have my own little Skylar. What a sweetie!
