  • I was telling coolmom56 about my pots, so I have to share them with the rest of you.

We learned to do this in garden club and I'm hooked!  So is Michelle!

This was my first one, done at garden club.

This one was done there too, for my aunt Em.

Then I did this one for my neighbor, June.

And this one for neighbor Diane.

    So much fun!

You want directions?  Sorry, I should have posted that at the same time.

Take a terra cotta pot.  You can paint it using outdoor acrylic paint if you desire.  That's what I did.

Then you apply things to the dried painted pot using modpodge glue.  The first two examples used napkins, in which I cut around the designs and peeled back the napkin to only the very top thin layer than has the design.  Since the napkin is so thin it's easier to apply the glue to the pot and not the design.  You can modpodge lightly over that once all the decorations are in place.  The other two examples use stickers, which are actually much easier.

Once the top layer of modpodge is dried apply a terra cotta sealer.  We couldn't find that, so we used a general sealer, which bubbled.  So I'm going to make a bigger effort to find the right stuff!

  • cool!  if you tell me how, i'm stealing your technique!  Jumby has a bunch of terra cotta pots that want some attention.

  • Those are so lovely....will you tell us how you did them?

  • @dingdongdingbat - I edited the entry to include directions.

  • I saw some really neat pots on I believe Rachel Ray one day and will go look for them again. Done with quick crete stuff. Do like yours tho and have some pots I could do that with. Very creative of you!

  • THANKS!!!  Happy Easter!

  • This way of 'doing pot' is soooo different than the way some of the 'burnouts' we went to school with did.  I like it! Very festive.  Easter Blessings to you and the gang.

  • Beauuuuuuuuuutiiiifuuuuuulllllll !!! Happy Easter... He's risen indeed !

  • Very beautiful and crafty......such a nice idea that you can personalize easily...

  • Those are really cute and inexpensive gifts to give someone and they can be personalized to each person so easily!  Thanks for the idea! *hugs*

  • They are sooo adorable. You are just so "crafty"!! I used to enjoy doing things like that---but not anymore. Guess I have lost the patience to not only do the projects, but to try to locate the supplies needed. Must have to do with old age!! lol

  • July 22 is now marked on my calendar!! Ken and I are both looking forward to it! Your visit is a highlight of our summer----yeah, we lead boring lives!! lol Too bad you weren't coming in June, when our "travelers" would be here.

  • Hope all's well your way! *hugs*

  • Love the colorful pots. Years ago, I "hodge-podged" a terra cotta pot and it still makes me smile every time I look at it.
