  • He's alive!  Yes, that's right, my son called yesterday.  Gave us a song and dance about bad to no cell phone coverage.  He'll be home this weekend for a week.  So he'll be able to help get ready for the reception.  It's less than 2 weeks away.

He called while I was on the phone with my college roommate.  She's one of those people who I always feel like we just pick right up where we left off the last time we talked, no matter how long it's been.  And we talk and talk and giggle and laugh.  It's great to have friends like that.  I called her back after I got off the phone with Ken.  I don't usually interrupt a call to take another, but it'd been too long since I talked to Ken and with caller ID I knew it was him!

My lists are getting longer and there are more of them.  I have to make lists, otherwise I forget to do things.  Which often isn't so bad, but I'd hate for forget the food or something else major on the day of the reception.

At least the favors are all done - we made over 120 of them, which is the current guest count.  I'm not making any more.  I figure there will be enough men like my husband who won't even take one that we'll have plenty, even with all the Amish kids there.  LOL

I need to call the rental place and revise the number of tables and chairs needed - up for the tables, down for the chairs.  And I have to pay for the cake this week.  Today I have a luncheon to plan the books for book club, then I have to take Barney in to the vet (I hope I can find him when it's time).  I also have to make some calls for my ladies group - I'm program chair this year.  And prepare the talk on Dorcas for Wednesday night's women's ministry meeting.  What would I do if I didn't have something to do?

I still have to post pictures of the ceremonial wall-hanging burning that Sue and I did on vacation.  Maybe next time.  I have to get my walk in and then start making phone calls.

Oh yeah - Wings, Etc will have 300 bbq wings ready for us at 10:15 the morning of the reception even though they don't usually open until 11!  Whoot whoot!  Now I just have to find a local provider of sushi to go with the quiches!

  • I knew he was alive!  I've seen pictures!  Ben said it was really hard to leave camp this year.  He said he and Ken hung out quite a bit this summer.  Glad the wings are going to be there.  You know how I feel about sushi.  Have a great/busy day!  Did you find more info on Dorcus?  good luck with that.

  • Lists are good. I even keep a little notepad and pencil on my bedside table. Otherwise when I wake up thinking of something in the middle of the night I'm afraid I'll forget and can't go back to sleep til I write it down.

  • RYC: I am about half way through the Poisonwood Bible. The husband/father guy just makes me so angry. But I find the book interesting, so that is good. It probably wasn't too far off the truth from a lot of missionaries of that era, and maybe some still today, unfortunately.

  • I have to do lists too.  Sounds like you have lots of irons in the fire and are keeping track of all of them.  I use to accomplish so much more when I busy than I do now with all this time on my hands.  Still haven't made the bed this a.m. so really do have to get that done.

  • You certainly keep busy....next you will be planning the grandbaby's first birthday!!!  lol

  • What would you do if you had nothing to do?  I don't know.  READ?  Next year...graduations and then.....another wedding?  All sorts of events coming up...

  • Ack!  Are you busy, or are you busy??

Ken gave you a song and dance about poor cell phone reception???  Now, you should understand that!  You just went through it!!!

And that wall hanging you burned wasn't really all THAT bad!!!  lol  It would have been popular 20 yrs. ago!

Sushi??  Wonder if Sue feels the same way I do about it.  One of the few things I don't care for.  Everything else sounds good, though!

I am started to get excited right along with you. It is a BIG deal!!

  • With all the lists of things to do, you still have time to blog... wooow, you sure are a great multi-tasker !! Hope you still get the chance to take pictures during reception too....!

  • I am exhausted hearing about your preparations--but it is fun to have a crowd!

  • RYC: Megan actually passed driver's ed!

  • Hey.. just wanted to say thanks for the comments. Will be praying for you during this "busy time". Have a blessed day..

  • Thanks for breezing by and letting me know about your video's, or lack thereof.

Can you believe it is only 2 weeks that are left to get all this stuff accomplished? Holy Cow!

Speaking of wings, have you ever had Ponderosa wings? For being a steak place, their wings are the best by far of anywhere else that you can order by bulk. They are as good cold as they are warm. I sometimes wish they sold them in lesser amounts, like maybe 12. So we only get them at parties. Man, are they good!!!!

I know this will sound stupid but I have to ask, is ther egoing to be parking facilities for horse drawn buggies at the reception?

  • Sushiiiiii.... aaaghhh, so yummmy....!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL Your son's call was funny. I don't use "call interrupt" either unless L's not home and then I apologize to my caller. I can't tell who's calling if I'm on the phone so I have to interrupt. I feel that if L is not home that it may be her calling for a reason and my mother-mind goes into overdrive. LOL

OMG Val, you're so busy. You must be the busiest and most organized person on Xanga that I know! Michelle's wedding is going to be beautiful. No pic of the favors? I'm loving the menu. Sushi! YUM! Are your Amish guests going to like it? Will you be able to take pictures of them? In Lancaster, PA they turn their heads when tourists want to take their picture.
