Today I put in some Master Gardener hours, sitting at a table at one of the local nurseries annual winter garden show. So I took some pictures of their ponds, for all of us to enjoy.
There is something so peaceful about a pond.
Until you try to build it. Which I have yet to do. I'm not sure I really want to. I'm afraid of what might happen to it!
The most asked question at these kind of events is "How do I get rid of the moles in my yard.?" There is a new trap out that is easy to install and kills the mole when it enters the trap. But some people want a humane trap. That is more difficult. The problem around here is that the moles are overpopulated. So far, I don't have any in my lawn, but I hate to say that too loudly.
I was reading the weather forecast in the local paper and saw that it's supposed to be 60 here by Thursday. Good grief. That's at least a month too early. Crazy weather. It's not that I mind the 60 degree temps, I'm just afraid that we'll get warm again and BOOM! It'll turn 10 again. BRRRR. Dave thinks it indicates global warming. That's really scary.
Hope you have a great weekend and are able to get out and worship at your local church.
We plan to go out for lunch after church with my aunt and uncle. He wasn't feeling so hot earlier in the week so here's hoping they can come!
I finished the last book in Adriana Trigiani's trilogy. I highly recommend this charming series. The life of an Italian Catholic in the mountains of Western Virginia. It's really well done.

Or it'll be like 1967 and be 60+ one day and 27" of snow the next!
I would love to have a pond too, but oh the work. I love the sound of water so much.
The pictures of the ponds were so lovely, it almost seemed like Spring.
Our neighbors have a pond with fish in it... they live all winter...hard to believe.
I would like to have a pond or....live in someplace where they have a pond that I can enjoy. But, with Dave, Ken and Peter's help, why don't you build one?
Beautiful photographs! That is exactly what my hubby wants to do with a bare spot in the back yard between all the trees. He's great a planning out what he wants in the yard.... I'm sort of a dummy about it ... but I can help do the work. Have a blessed day!
Crazy weather here too... there are crocuses and daffodils blooming in front of my apartment. Blooming and keeling over,of course. I noticed last week the pear trees are blooming in the city, too. Beautiful ponds!
Oh, I want a pond too! But I know for sure that's more work than we're going to do right now. And I enjoyed looking at the ones you showed.
Becky and I want a pond/water fountain. We know where we want it, just have to get to planning. Dan, of course, won't be much help until 2007! The pix were great though, good ideas. Nothing that elaborate here. Just something simple.
RYC: different restaurant. Called the Railcar. Great RR decor. Awesome steaks.
This is the year that I plan on doing some pretty stuff to my yard. I want to put in a simple pond. Those on the pics are absolutely beautiful. I can't manage that. A hole in the ground with a plant in it and a fish or two.... more my style. However, we do have heron and osprey flying overhead that love to eat pond fish. I wouldn't mind if I could capture a picture of the osprey eating the fish. LOL Isn't nature grand?
Gonna catch up with you.
RYC: Heehee.... still reading.... and commenting. I'm enjoying the pictures of Hawaii so much! Well, if I can't go I'll live vicariously through you!
And yes... Hollywood has no clue. I can't believe that Narnia beat out King Kong and it wasn't nominated. Peh!
Yay! Time for your garden pictures again! I love those. . .
I love the fountain we put in last summer. Nothing as fancy as these, but at least it has the sound of bubbling water. Love sitting out on the patio and listening to it while reading and watching the birds. So relaxing. We have always tried to have a fountain, pond or waterfall in our yards. Love them.
