  • I just got back home from my 30th college reunion.  It was a lot of fun - saw friends I haven't seen in awhile and missed others.  I even won a prize - for having the youngest grandchild.  I think I was the one with the only grandchild in that particular group!  Another person won the prize for the youngest child - 6 years old!  He aslo has a 26 year old!   Hope College was and is a great place.  Good times, good memories.  After all, that's where I met my husband!

We are leaving tomorrow for a week of vacation in Gatlinburg, Tn.  Our friends Sue and Dan are driving to our house now and will accompany us to the Great Smokey Mountains.  What fun!  We've never vacationed with friends before - what do you want to bet it's less stressful than with teenagers?

Michelle and I hit garage sales again yesterday.  Not so good, but you can't hit it every time!  It was still fun.  She called me today and was out saling with Kaden.  We're meeting them tonight for pizza at our favorite Chicago-style pizza place so maybe we'll hear more details then.

I don't know yet whether or not I'm the mother of a college graduate.  I'll keep you all posted.  Dave and I heavily edited his paper many times this week and we both feel he should pass.  It certainly took our best efforts!  Parenting - it's not for cowards!

I'll try to check in with you during the week, but if I can't, I'll be back after Mother's Day.  So hope you have a good one!

  • RYC: Nope nothing but cake mix and can of pop.

What a good picture of you and Dave. Think it is the best you've ever posted.

I am so envious of you and all your "tripping". Do keep us posted. We were in Gatlinburg years ago when I was nice and thin and could do all the walking etc. Are you going down the road through the Smokey Mt. Park to Cherokee I believe that is the name of the town. There are so many stops along the way just to look at old time houses/village and in Cherokee there is a native Indian village with tour or at least there was in the early 80s.

  • Wow.. you sure have been getting around lately! LOL... I am glad you enjoyed your reunion, I will keep my fingers crossed about graduation... have fun next week!

  • You sure have been busy with your travels.  Hope you have a wonderful time in Gatlinburg.  That is someplace I've never been and would love to see.

  • Have a wonderful trip!!  Looking forward to lots of pictures!

  • Gatlinberg has really changed since dad and I honeymooned there 54 years ago....and even when we took you there 10 years later.  It's fun.  There's a lot to do in Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge...although I preferred it before Dolly Parton's Dollywood...

The rhododendren should be in bloom and covering the mts....so beautiful.

  • Wishing Ken good luck on his finals and on getting his paper done.  I know he will be very proud once he has completed college.

Great pictures of Kaden...he is turning into a boy now....looking older by the minute.

Hope you had a wonderful time in Gatlenburg, it is a beautiful place.  We went to the Aquarium ...it was awesome.

  • When I first looked at Kaden and Grandpa on the floor I could just imagine him saying "no, Papa, sit here with me!".
