  • I'm taking a break from cross stitching before my eyes go cross eyed!  I bought myself a pair of reading glasses to wear over my contacts (200 strength) and that seems to do the trick.  I get dizzy though when I look up and the glasses are still on my eyes!

So here is the stitching chart for the Christmas stocking I'm making Sam.

This is what it should look like when I get it done.

Except it'll say "SAMUEL", not TAYLOR.

And this is what I've managed to complete since I started Thursday night.  It doesn't look like much, but  I think I'll take a picture every week just to encourage myself!

I always start in the middle of the design (I know they tell you to start in the left top corner, but I never have.)  If I start in the middle I can work out from there.  So what you're looking at is the eye of the beagle and the surrounding fur.  And the wallpaper background.  Which I started just to save my sanity.  Too much brown, all varying shades, but very close!

My favorite baby is lifting up his head!

Do you believe that he's 4 months old now?  Me either.

    Cute bathing beauty.

He's almost tall enough for this walker!

My mother in law arrived on Thursday and stayed until after church today.  So she spent some time with Kaden and his parents.  She left before she could see Ken, who had spent the weekend in Downers and was heading back to Hope.  So he stopped home for a little while.  Time enough to pick up his new contacts and get a Sam's club card with his picture on it so he can shop for groceries in Holland.  He went to Downers to see his best friend Nathan, who was home on leave from the army.  He'll be deployed to Iraq in November.  He's in an armored division.  He's been in a year and is now a private first class.  Scary for his parents and the rest of us!

Tomorrow I get my cat scan of my sinuses at 8 am.  I thought it was last week, so I showed up a week early.  Don't you hate that when that happens.  As Dave says, I'm getting a mechanical cat scan instead of the furry cat scan that wakes me up every morning.  Gotta love that Wilma cat!

Dave stained the deck today, before the rains come and the leaves all fall.  There are already leaves on the lawn.  Boo hoo!

Hope you enjoyed your Sunday and were able to worship at the church of your choice.

  • I always start my cross stitch in the middle too.  So much easier to follow the pattern.  I haven't done it in a while though, it really makes my hand hurt.  I miss it!  I  think if I end up working downtown and taking the train, I'll start up again, because then it's only about 40 minutes or less at a time working on it.

  • I always started in the middle.  I thought you were suppose to.  I hope Sam realizes what a labor of love this is for you to do for him.  Good luck with the CAT scan.

  • I have started in the middle also... so see you're not too odd! LOL Kaden is getting big... they seem to grow like weeds at this age!

RYC- the liver was sooo good...

  • Awww.  Kaden is getting so big.  So cute.  I'm tempted to move up North.

  • He's sooooo beautiful!!

  • That is going to look really nice when you are done with it. I never could get the hang of cross stich. He is such a cute little baby. Wow four months already.

  • Maaan, with tons of other things to do, you still manage to do cross-stitch... woooow, I must tip my hat to you... ! You are indeed a sweet mil, he will really appreciate everthing you have done for his family - he's blessed indeed !

  • I would never attempt cross-stitch anymore.  My eyes just couldn't handle that tiny close work.  Of course, I am just a wee bit older than you!!  lol   It reminds me of my grandmother.  She loved to cross-stitch tablecloths.  She  told me she was making me another one, and what color did I want the thread?  (She did the tablecloths, with pre-stamped patterns on them,  in just one color).  I told her, and when she finished it, she said she would never do one like that again.  I didn't want a bold color---more subtle.  She had trouble distinguishing the tablecloth color from the thread color. She was in her 80's at the time, so it was understandable.  But I loved the tablecloth!!!  Between the ones she made for me, for my mother, and the ones my sis no longer wanted, I have 12 tablecloths packed away----one for each grandchild when they marry (or when I feel they are old enough to appreciate it).

Kaden gets more adorable every day.  And what a little chunk he is!!  His big brown eyes he certainly gets from his mom!!

  • Oh yeah, you were right about the gas price... sorry I hope i did not get you too excited and put the house on the market or anything drastic...
it was 2.59. I am so thick sometimes... maybe it is the pollen

Sam is adorable. Now I wanna be a grammma. aaak not yet.

That cross stitch looks like a wonderful project. I hope you enjoy that.
I always mess up cross stitch ... I would probably end up accidently stitching "Taylor" on there as well LOL

This Christmas stocking will be a treasure for years. one year he will try to put it on his own leg.

  • I always start my cross-stitch in the middle too. In fact, I just started one! I didn't bring any cross stitching stuff with me (I don't know what I was thinking!) I have my scrapbooking stuff but I can't just pull that out any time to work on it. My friend here has a program that will convert a picture into cross stich so I found a picture of a hibiscus online and made that into a cross stitch. It is going to be quite big. There is a store here that sells cross stitch supplies so I bought a half-meter of fabric for about $6 (there is enough fabric left over for another good-sized cross-stitch) and the DMC floss is about 35 cents each. So, more pricey than a good sale at Michaels or Hobby Lobby but not wildly overpriced. So for under $20 I have a good project to last me for a while. And I didn't pay a cent for the pattern!

Can't believe how big Kaden is getting! What a cutie. Natalie is now pulling herself up onto our ottoman to get at the stuffed animals we put there! I can't believe she's going to be a year old in 2 months!!! Man, we are going to HAVE to get our computer fixed so that I can post pictures right after I take them instead of a few weeks later!

  • RYC:  It will be ez to post a picture of the expensive tooth...since there is none(not my own anyway)...Just a gaping hole where one should be.
